In the complexity of trying to keep marine projects afloat- literally and financially - it’s instructive to come back to our humble beginnings. Here are the first (western red-cedar) planks being laid in the female mould of one of Pelican’s hulls. ( Graham McKechnie ran and helped build Pelican over the first four years of the boat build. Garry McKechnie- now part of Pelican Expeditions and Saltwater Projects, helped run the build and took over the lead role in the last third. Pelican1 took six years to build to completion.
